Weymouth & The Dorset Coast

The bustling seaside town of Weymouth offers a fine Georgian esplanade, harbour and a marina with a beautiful bay, all wrapped up in a olde world charm. We enjoy a variety of excursions, ranging from the famous Dorchester market, to a heritage rail journey at Swanage, and the seaside town of West Bay featured in the popular television dama 'Broadchurch.'

Our Hotel

Hotel Rex, Weymouth

Originally built for the Duke of Clarence as his summer residence, the Rex is ideally situated on the Esplanade, overlooking the harbour, and offering a cosy lounge, welcoming bar, à la carte restaurant and WiFi. All bedrooms are en-suite and feature a flat-screen TV, telephone and tea and coffee making facilities. The hotel has a lift.

Bridport & West Bay

Enjoy some free time in Bridport, surrounded by beautiful hills and rolling countryside. There are over 1000 listed buildings of historical or architectural merit, many of these associated with the rope making industry. Next it's on to the wonderful seaside resort of West Bay, situated on the Jurassic Coast and recently featured in ITV1's hit drama 'Broadchurch'.

Swanage Railway

The coastal town of Swanage is pure nostalgia. You can browse the independent shops, stop for a well-deserved cuppa in one of the welcoming eateries, or perhaps walk along the Victorian pier and gaze out over Swanage Bay from Durlston Castle. During our visit we also include a return journey on the Swanage Heritage Railway, a relaxing and memorable ride through the beautiful Purbeck countryside.

Dorchester & Moreton

Our begins with time at leisure in Dorchester, made famous by the novels of Thomas Hardy. The popular weekly market will be underway and you will have plenty of time to browse the market stalls. This afternoon we continue to Moreton, famed for its associations to Lawrence of Arabia, a controversial and enigmatic hero of the First World War. He spent his final years in Dorset and lies at Moreton cemetery.

Monkey World

Enjoy a fun-filled, fascinating day out for all the family at Monkey World Ape Rescue Centre in Wareham. The 65-acre park is home to the stars of TV's 'Monkey Life' and 'Monkey Business', and provides sanctuary for rescued and endangered primates from around the world. Some are now part of international breeding programmes for endangered species including Europe's official orang-utan crèche! While away the hours watching the monkeys and apes interact, and enjoy a bite to eat at the café, serving good value hot and cold food.
