Aberfoyle

On day one we travel to Aberfoyle in Stirling, arriving late afternoon at the Rob Roy Hotel for an overnight stay.

Fort William

On day two we continue our journey north travelling through the Highlands. We make a lunchtime stop in Fort William, a dramatic setting on the shores of Loch Linnhe and under the mighty bulk of Ben Nevis, Britain's highest mountain. Attractions within the town include the West Highland Museum, which houses a large collection of Jacobite memorabilia. Later we continue north, crossing Skye bridge to the Isle of Skye and the Dunollie Hotel for an overnight stay.

Dunvegan Castle

After breakfast on day three we journey through Skye, taking in the spectacular scenery, arriving at Dunvegan Castle & Gardens - the ancestral home of the Chiefs of Clan Macleod for more than 800 years. Originally designed as a fortress to keep people out, today you can discover an award-winning Castle and Highland estate steeped in history and clan legend, delight in the beauty of its formal gardens, browse the gift shops or satisfy your appetite at the MacLeod Tables Café. This afternoon, we travel to the ferry terminal at Ulg where we board the afternoon ferry to Tarbert on the Isle of Harris. We then drive through the picture postcard landscapes to Stornoway, arriving at the Cabarfeidh Hotel for a two-night stay.

Standing Stones

On day four we travel west to visit the spiritual Calanais Standing Stones. Predating Stonehenge, the stones are said to be more than 5,000 years old! With multiple circles erected in 1km, this area was a key location for rituals of the Neolithic people. You will have chance to explore the Visitor's Centre and learn about the significance of the circles before seeing them in person. This afternoon we travel to Carloway Mill, where we enjoy a tour showing the process of making the traditional Harris Tweed. Witness how skilled craftsmen continue to work the very same machinery their forefathers used, dating back to 1892.

Stornoway & Ferry

Enjoy a leisurely breakfast and free time in Stornoway on day five, before we board the afternoon ferry to Ullapool. We disembark to journey through the highlands to the Fishers Hotel in Pitlochry, arriving in time for dinner. On day six, we check out of the Fishers Hotel and head for home with fond memories of our time in Scotland.
