This new break ventures to Southwest Scotland, visiting a variety of hidden gems and magnificent properties in the area. Visit the beautiful Threave Garden, learn about the life and legacy of Rabbie Burns, explore the secret follies at Culzean Castle and discover the romantic paradise of Castle Kennedy Gardens.

 

OUR HOTEL: North West Castle Hotel, Port Rodie

Our base is the family owned and run North West Castle Hotel, formerly the home of Sit John Ross who was once a famous Arctic explorer. Facilities include a restaurant, bar, lounge and leisure facilities which include a swimming pool, sauna, spa bath, gym and its own indoor curling rink. All bedrooms are en-suite and feature a TV and tea/coffee making facilities. This hotel has a lift.

 

Threave Garden

Threave Garden & Kirkcudbright - We head into the heart of the Galloway Forest Park, making a short break at the Clatteringshaws Visitors Centre, an ideal spot to enjoy the breath-taking scenery. From here we visit the wildlife haven that is Threave Garden where you can explore the secret garden, rockery and walled garden, with the 18th century Threave House providing a spectacular backdrop. Our final stop of the day is in lively fishing port of Kirkcudbright, known as the Artists' Town.

Burns Museum

Burns Museum & Culzean Castle - We travel along the eastern shore of Loch Ryan to the Robert Burns Birthplace Museum, which celebrates Scotland's national poet. This afternoon we visit Culzean Castle & Country Park, with many secret follies and features to explore, including the magnificent cliff top castle, Swan Pond, flamboyant formal gardens and fruit filled glasshouses.

Portpatrick

Portpatrick & Castle Kennedy Gardens - This morning you can spend some time in Portpatrick, known for its pastel-coloured houses and breath-taking views towards Ireland. Later we visit the magnificent Castle Kennedy Gardens, which are among the most famous in Scotland and offer 75 acres of spectacularly designed loch-side landscape.
