On the 75th Anniversary year of the D-Day Landings, we head to Normandy to explore the scenes of WWII. We have included a knowledgeable guide for our excursions as we tour beaches, battle remnants and reflect on those left behind. 

 

Our Hotel: Mercure Caen Cote de Nacre, Caen

Our hotel is ideally situated for our itinerary and features include free Wi-Fi, ‘Le Normand’ Restaurant and ‘Le Calix’ bar.

 

All rooms are en-suite and include air-conditioning, flat-screen TV with satellite channels, hairdryer and tea / coffee tray.

Holiday Inclusions:

Your holiday includes return sailings with Brittany Ferries, dinner, bed & breakfast throughout and three excursions.
Day one takes us to Portsmouth for our crossing to Caen. Dinner will be taken on-board the ship this evening before we disembark in Caen and make the short journey to our hotel for a good night's rest.

Bayeax & Beaches

- We are joined by our guide as we head to Bayeux and the largest WWII cemetery in France, the resting place of over 4000 souls. We continue to Arromanches and visit the invasion museum, focusing on the amazing Mulberry harbour before a drive to Gold Beach and stop in Courseulles-sur-Mer. We then continue along Juno and Sword Beaches, visiting the British D-Day graves at Hermanville before our day culminates at the Hillman Bunker site.

Merville,

Merville, Pegasus & Caen - Our guide escorts us to the Merville Gun Battery before we proceed via Breville Ridge to Ranville Commonwealth Cemetery, the final resting place of 2,562 brave servicemen. We'll call at Pegasus Bridge, Café Gondré and the Pegasus Memorial Museum, which is dedicated to the men of the 6th Airborne Division. We then return to Caen for free time and a visit the Memorial de Caen, to discover the historic events that marked WWII.

Azeville &The Allies

- We are once more joined by our guide as we set out to the Azeville Battery and Sainte Mère Église where we visit Airborne Museum. See Utah Beach then head to Pointe Du Hoc and visit the American Cemetery overlooking tragic Omaha Beach, the resting place of 9,387 souls. We also visit the beach itself and then continue to the Longues-Sur-Mer Gun Battery and see its original guns.

Day Five

Day five takes us back to Portsmouth early this morning and on to Lancashire.

Instructions

All tours on this site do include our very popular door to door service. On the day of departure, one of our small minibuses or cars will pick you up, at your door at the stipulated time and transfer you to the coach.
