Lake Maggiore is an idyllic retreat, where magnificent mountains plunge to the lakeside, and grand villas lie secluded behind palm trees and lush gardens. Our base is in the stylish resort of Stresa, within sight of the Borromean Islands. During this tour see no less than four lakes in addition to some of Northern Italy and Switzerland's historic towns and villages.

Overnight Ferry

Our ship offers a variety of entertainment whilst we sail to Europe from either Newcastle or Hull. Your lower birth cabin, dinner, and breakfast are included.

Overnight Hotel

2 nights

Our overnight hotel will be ideally located for our route and will offer comfortable, en-suite accommodation, restaurant, and bar. There will be a lift, or ground floor bedrooms available on request.

Hotel Astoria, Stresa

6 nights

The 4-star Astoria is a modern hotel in Stresa on the lake Maggiore, centrally situated near the Congress Hall Palazzo dei Congressi Stresa. The Hotel enjoys a splendid view of the Borromeo Gulf, its islands and the Alps. Facilities include a restaurant, bar/lounge, fitness centre with gym, outdoor swimming pool, rooftop terrace and coffee shop. All bedrooms have en-suite facilities and feature air-conditioning, hairdryer, mini-bar, flatscreen TV, radio, telephone and free wi-fi. This hotel has a lift.

This holiday requires a full UK Passport with at least 6 months of validity from the date your holiday returns to the UK.

Outbound Journey

After your home collection we take you to the port for our overnight North Sea crossing to Europe. Dinner, breakfast, and lower berth cabins are included. We disembark on day 2 and journey to southwest France for an overnight stay with dinner.

Lake Maggiore

Sit back and marvel at the magnificent scenery of Switzerland today as we pass Lake Lucerne and Mount Gotthard en-route to Italy on day 3. We should arrive at our resort hotel on the shores of Lake Maggiore this afternoon in good time to settle in and relax before dinner this evening. Day 4 is a free day to relax and familiarise yourself with Maggiore and our resort. Italy's second largest lake offers an idyllic setting and is famed for its Italian authenticity and wonderful climate. We have included a tranquil cruise to the Borromean Islands, where you will have an opportunity to visit two of its island jewels, Isola Madre & Isola Bella, before heading back to shore for free time in Stresa to enjoy its aristocratic lakeside promenade.

Orta San Giulio

We join our coach after breakfast on day 5 and climb out of Lake Maggiore, through Omegna, and arrive at Lake Orta. This unspoiled area comes complete with towering peaks, lush forests, sparkling waters and historic towns. During our visit we include a boat journey to Orta San Giulio and explore its narrow, cobbled streets, cafés, and restaurants boasting stunning views across the lake. A truly 'picture postcard' day out!

Train to Switzerland

Our excursion on day 6 offers the most breathtaking scenery imaginable, as we make the short journey to Domodossola and taken in the magnificent scenery as we journey by train into Switzerland to Locarno. We then re-join our coach and continue onto beautiful Lake Lugano, and spend time exploring Lugano town's wonderful tree lined promenades.

Lake Como

No visit to northern Italy would be complete without visiting the stunning and Historic Lake Como! With its picturesque shores, Como has long been a popular haunt and home of the rich and famous and a favourite filming location for many Hollywood Blockbusters, so keep your eyes open for a glimpse of a movie star and see how many locations from the silver screen you recognise! In addition to the stunning views, we offer some free time to explore the city of Como, lying on the southwestern branch of the lake. Day 8 is a free day to relax and recharge.

Return Journey

We must sadly say "arrivederci" to Italy on day 9 and retrace our steps back through the wonderful peaks and rivers of Switzerland and then onto France for an overnight stay with dinner. On day 10, we return to Holland and then board our overnight sailing back to the UK. Again, dinner, breakfast, and lower berth cabins are included. We disembark our ferry and return home by coach on day 11.
